The Story
15 Years Experience
I’m a TEFL baby (as in, I was born into TEFL, my mum being a TEFL teacher and having her own language school) and have spent close to 20 years contributing to the industry at a local (and in more recent years), national and international level.
Having grown up in TEFL and then lived a “standard” TEFL career (TEFL degree, CELTA, DELTA, examiner, trainer, speaker, academic manager, etc.) I understand the industry and know what it’s like to manage a team and a school. Dealing with clients, recruitment, timetabling, CPD for the team, cover… I have lived and worked through the challenges and joys of being an academic manager.

Struggles which Required Change
It was the challenges (and admittedly, some burnout) that triggered me to take a step sideways into certified coaching. I knew how to teach a language very well, but that didn’t seem to be enough to deal with other very real issues that come with academic management: overwhelmed staff, overwhelming clients, prioritising a million tasks, etc. whilst trying to keep a balanced personal life too. I’m sure you can relate.
